Paul Fitzpatrick

The results are in from the weekend’s ACFL clashes and the big news is that Lacken Celtic continue to lead the way in Division 1.

The Sky Blues, managed by former star forward Finbar O’Reilly, picked up their fourth successive win with an eye-catching 1-13 to 0-7 victory over an understrength Kingscourt Stars, with Conor Finnegan bagging an early goal.

Cavan Gaels, meanwhile, came from seven points down to defeat Ramor United by one, with Paul O’Connor hitting the net twice, while Cootehill overcame Gowna away, Arva beat Mullahoran and a Cian Mackey-inspired Castlerahan were winners by a goal against Ballyhaise.

Killygarry slipped to a one-point defeat against Killeshandra, managed by their own clubman and former star Damien Keaney while in a top of the table Division 4 clash, Drumalee came from a point behind at half-time to beat Shannon Gaels.

Elsewhere, Niall Lawlor hit the net twice as Belturbet turned in a five-star performance against Bailieborough and Swanlinbar lost midfielders Gearopid McKiernan and Greg McGovern to red and black cards respectively as they were beaten by in-form Laragh.
