Crane company pulls out of former Quinn windfarm after threats
A crane company has pulled out of working at a wind farm in Slieve Rushen on the Cavan-Fermanagh border after a threatening letter containing bullets was received by staff at the same site, reports The Belfast Telegraph.
The paper reports that East Cork Crane Hire has contracted to work at the wind farm, formerly owned by the business of former discharged bankrupt Sean Quinn.
In the latest in a series of disturbing incidents the letter containing three bullets said it was a 'final warning'.
Owner of the crane hire group said that he would no risk the safety of his workers.
On Tuesday a sign was erected near the wind farm reading: 'Remove the UDA and UVF off our mountain or face the gun.'
The threat is addressed to Quinn Industrial Holdings Limited chief Liam McCaffrey - the second threat to Mr McCaffrey in a month - and executives Kevin Lunney, Tony Lunney and Dara O'Reilly.
The PSNI and An Garda Siochana have launched a cross-Border investigation with both appealing for information on acts of 'intimidation against members of the local business community'.
