Gardai seize €66K in Ballinagh growhouse raid
Gardai in Cavan yesterday busted a growhouse in the Ballinagh area, seizing an estimated €66K worth of cannabis.
A Garda spokesperson said: “As part of an ongoing operation by Gardai from Cavan into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Cavan area a premises was searched at Kilnacreevy, Ballinagh, Co Cavan, yesterday afternoon, Thursday, April 7.”
During the course of the search gardai discovered 83 cannabis plants “with an approximate street value of €66,400”.
A 51-year-old male was arrested and detained at Cavan Garda Station “under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984,” said gardai. He was later released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
