Post mortem results "unclear" in Cavan man's death
Police in England are continuing their appeal for information following the death of a man from Co Cavan at a hotel outside of London earlier this week.
Named locally as Declan Walsh (41) from Ballyconnell, the authorities have said the results of a post mortem examination carried out have proved inconclusive.
Mr Walsh, who is understood to have been living in the UK at the time, was declared dead at the Elmhurst Hotel in Earley after officers were called to the scene at 9.57am, Wednesday, March 30. Their arrival was prompted by a report of a man being assaulted by two others.
An hour later, two men aged 28 and 38, both from Reading, were arrested in the centre of the town, and initially investigation was launched. They have since been released without charge.
The post mortem examination was conducted yesterday, Thursday March 31, with toxicology reports ordered to assist with the investigation. It could however be months before the exact cause of death is established.
The Anglo-Celt understands that the Department of Foreign Affairs have been in contact with the deadman's family and assistance is being given.
Thames Valley Police are continuing their investigations have repeated their calls for any public assistance in the matter
