Neven Maguire cleans up for Cavan at food Oscars
Neven Maguire and his MacNean House and Restaurant have cleaned up at last night’s Irish Restaurant Awards 2016 Ulster finals, also known as the Food Oscars.
Neven was awarded Best Chef in Cavan while MacNean House & Restaurant received the prestigious Best Restaurant and Best Customer Service awards.
Attended by the MacNean Restaurant team, the Ulster regional finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2016 was held at Guild Hall in Derry.
“The Irish Restaurant Awards are always one to watch and I’m thrilled for myself and the team to have been presented with these awards. We have a great team at the restaurant and it’s fantastic to have their dedication to excellent customer service acknowledged. I would like to thank the whole ‘MacNean team’, the local community here in Blacklion and to all our loyal customers” said Neven Maguire of MacNean House & Restaurant and the Neven Maguire Cookery School.
The winners, who were in part chosen by public vote, will go on to compete in the All-Ireland Final judged by a panel of mystery guests, food writers, journalists and Bord Bia. The overall winners will be announced on the 16th of May 2016.
Since Neven took over the family business in 2001, MacNean House & Restaurant has been consistently winning awards for its food, service, wine offer and overall dining experience.
In addition to his Neven Maguire Cookery School, where Neven presents a range of exciting cookery classes for all skill levels, he has also launched his exclusive ‘The Chef’s Table’ dining experience. Hosted in the beautiful and private surrounds of his cookery school, Neven and his team cook in front of diners and present the restaurant’s acclaimed Tasting Menu. Accompanying wines are also presented and served by the restaurant’s sommelier, Blaithin McCabe.
MacNean House & Restaurant and the Neven Maguire Cookery School employ a team of over 50 people, bringing a significant boost in employment and tourism to the local economy.
