Cahill set to light up London Town
Cavan singer-songwriter Áine Cahill is starting 2016 much as she finished 2015 - busy! The Castletara-native is to leave Irish shores on tour for the first time later this month when she plays two prestigious London venues, at The Blues Kitchen (January 14), and The Dublin Castle, Camden, where Amy Winehouse made her big break (January 20).
The visit across the Irish Sea with her band Spam Turner comes at an exciting time for Áine, as she is set to hold discussions with a host of important record labels who have shown interest in signing the local star.
Along with her appearance at The Strypes’ recent homecoming Christmas Knees-up at the Townhall Arts Centre, on the same night Áine took centre-stage with her own headline show at a packed Imperial Bar.
Kicking off with the relatively unknown Aretha Franklin song 'See Saw’, Aine then launched into her already impressive setlist dotted with the likes of 'Runaway’, 'Blood Diamond’, 'The Pictures’, 'Hollywood’ and the much talked about '27 Club’, her forthcoming single, due for release very soon.
Backed by her band Sam Geraghty, Louise Johnston, Sarah McLaughlin and Paul Cox, her hit 'Black Dahlia’, which garnered Áine national attention and widespread radio play, was a typical crowd highlight before she finished off the night with an explosive version of dance smash 'Nuclear’.
Having played at such high profile events as Electric Picnic in 2015, it’s understood that a number of major festivals have already been in touch with Áine and her band ahead of the summer season in what looks set to be yet another hectic year for the local singing sensation.
