€26k in funding for Clones Courthouse
The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has today (Monday) announced more than €26,000 in funding for the former courthouse in Clones, to allow for the installation for retractable seating.
It follows an application to her Department by Monaghan County Council, which owns and maintains the building.
Speaking today, Minister Humphreys said: “This funding will allow for the installation of retractable seats in the old courthouse, and will be a major boost to the Clones Film Festival. I would like to see the Film Festival to grow in the years ahead, and if this is to happen then better facilities are essential.'
The improvement of the facilities at the courthouse means it can be further developed as a community amenity and is suitable for other community based groups and for a range of other arts and cultural events to take place.
“I had the pleasure of opening Clones Film Festival last year; it is an ambitious and exciting event which brings non commercial films to a local audience. I am delighted that the Festival will have a more suitable home in 2016, thanks to this funding for the courthouse,' Minister Humphreys said.
