Pupils' instruments stolen from church after Christmas concert
On the day bogus collectors were discovered pretending to be from a suicide charity, gardai are also investigating the theft of cash and instruments from a church after a children's Christmas concert the night before.
Earlier today, Sosad in Cavan were warning people that bogus collectors are going door-to-door in their name around the Ballyjamesduff.
On their Facebook page, which can be found at 'Hope Centre', Sosad warns: '[We] have been made aware that there are individuals collecting money door to door on our behalf. We would like to make aware that we DO NOT have people collecting door to door for us and would ask everyone to be vigilant. If you have come in to contact with these individuals please contact us immediately. Thank You.'
However, if that wasn't a depressing enough, Northern Sound radio reports that gardaí in Bailieborough are investigating last night's break-in at St Anne's Church in the town.
'Between 12.30 last night and 8am this morning,' reports the station, 'an estimated €1,000 was stolen – which includes a number of musical instruments, such as electric guitars and amps – following a school Christmas Concert in the Church last night.'
A collection for new equipment for St Anne’s National School was also carried out at the concert.
In both cases gardai are urging anyone with information to contact them. Bailieborough Garda Station is on (042) 969 4570, while Ballyjamesduff Garda Station is on (049) 854 4102.
