Death of muchloved gaa coach and chieftain of oreilly clan
The Anglo-Celt are sad to report that the death has occurred of Cavan Town man JJ Reilly this afternoon.
JJ, who was aged 67, was a lifelong member of the Cavan Gaels club, with whom he was a star midfielder. However, he was best known as an outstanding underage football coach with his club, whom he led to countless underage championships.
JJ, who taught English in St Patrick's College before his retirement two years ago, was also elected as chieftain of the O'Reilly clan during the Life of Reilly festival in August 2013, which he celebrated with a rousing rendition of The Gallant John Joe.
He sadly suffered a massive stroke on Tuesday morning and passed away, surrounded by his family, in Beaumont Hospital this afternoon.
