Following an exhaustive festival season, which saw the foursome tour the world, the wait is almost over for the legions of eager Strypes’ fans who can finally get their hands on the band’s latest album 'Little Victories’ due for release this Friday, August 21.
Ross, Josh, Evan and Pete have been performing material from their sophomore release at sold-out shows to universally positive reviews since early this year, with critics noting a major evolution in the both the band’s style and sound from their 2013 début album, 'Snapshot’.
Tracks such as 'Cab Fare Home’ and 'Eighty Four’ highlight the strong influences of the Arctic Monkeys and Paul Weller. One thing is for certain, they’ve come a long way from Clones’ FlatLake Festival where it all began, yet the band still enchant the crowds with their trademark high octane, pulsating energy that drew the crowds to them all those years ago. To mark the big day of release, the lads will be performing at HMV Dundrum to a sold out in store event this coming Friday.
Local launch
But as always, the Strypes still remain true to their roots and will be rocking out in their hometown by signing copies of 'Little Victories’ in MultiSound, Cavan Town the day after, on Saturday at 3pm.
The Celt spoke to bassist Pete (O’Hanlon) and drummer Evan (Walsh) on the eve of their newest album release. Their excitement was palpable and it’s clear the band are very proud of their newest venture. “After finishing this album in January of this year, we’re delighted it’s finally going to hit the shops. We’ve been touring the album these last few months and the response and reaction to the new songs has been something we could never have dreamed of.
“We’re so happy that everyone appears to be enjoying it and the initial reviews have been really positive so that’s all you can wish for when releasing an album! We’re especially looking forward to the signing in Multisound on Saturday. Noel and Anne Marie have always been huge supporters of us and we’re so thankful for that,” they say.
