Unapproved food premises in belturbet forced to close
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a Closure Order and a Prohibition Order on a Belturbet man in relation to an unapproved food premises.
The FSAI today stated a Closure Order and a Prohibition Order were served yesterday evening (Wednesday, May 6) on Mr Ivan Ebbitt, Erne Hill, Belturbet, Co. Cavan by veterinary inspectors from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
This unapproved food premises the FSAI say was 'unhygienic and unsuitable' for the purposes of food production.
The FSAI states that 'all products produced, processed, stored, distributed and placed on the market' from this unapproved food premises are implicated.
The FSAI meanwhile continues to advise consumers to only purchase food products from reputable sources. The FSAI also reminds retailers to always adhere to the strictest procedures to ensure they only source food products from approved suppliers.
The Closure Order and the Prohibition Order were served for breaches of food legislation under the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, Act 1998.
