Police investigate death of woman in newtownbutler
The Police Service of Northern Ireland have arrested man as investigations into the death of a woman in Newtownbutler at the weekend. The man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
It is understood that the woman, believed to be from the Cavan area was found badly injured at her own home in Newtownbutler on Sunday last.
She was taken to the South West Acute Hospital where she died on Tuesday afternoon last.
A police spokesman added: “A post mortem has now taken place and the Police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing. There are no further details at this time.”
The discovery of the woman's body at a house in the Camphill Park area of the Fermanagh town prompted a heavy police pressence in the area, with the house cordoned off as forensic investigations took place at the property.
The police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a woman following an incident in the Newtownbutler area on Sunday, April 12. Enquiries are continuing.”
