Over 50 new jobs to be created locally

The county is set to receive a significant jobs boost with news that more than 50 new jobs are to be created in the coming weeks.
The biggest addition comes following the announcement that the former Kingscourt Brick factory is being fully recommissioned by owners Lagan Brick, with the creation of up to 30 new jobs.
Supported by Enterprise Ireland and prompted by increased market demand for high quality brick both in Ireland and UK, 20 of those jobs at the Drumgill facility will be advertised imminently as part of the first phase of the new operation.
The 10 remaining positions will be phased in as the second kiln is put into use, with the first bricks expected to be produced there in June - more than three years after production was shut down and workers let go.
It is further estimated that up to 20 spin-off jobs could also be created and sustained in the area as a result of the investment.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said: “Lagan Brick is a great example of the type of Irish manufacturing, engineering and construction companies my Department supports in every region of the country, through Enterprise Ireland. I warmly congratulate Lagan Brick and wish them continued success for the future.”
Jobs at CG Ireland
Meanwhile, The Anglo-Celt understands that power and industrial equipment manufacturer CG Ireland (formerly Pauwels Trafo) is set to create up to 10 new jobs at its Dublin Road facility.
The jobs, being created on a temporary basis, are set to come on stream in the coming weeks.
Also in Cavan Town, publican and proprietor of the popular Slieve Rossa bar in Cavan Town Michael Mooney has already hired five new employees at his new main-street venture, with plans to hire, in total, between 10 to 15 staff for the imminent launch of the new Luna bar and restaurant.
Those positions are in addition to the number he already employs at the Slieve Rossa. The opening of Luna is imminent with the final touches being added this week.
