Opportunistic theft of substantial money from delivery van

Gardai in Cavan Town are appealing for information on a theft of money from a delivery van that happened yesterday morning.

It is understood that a fruit and vegetable van was parked and left unattended at the corner of Black's newsagent and Dunnes in the town as deliveries were made.

While it was unattended, a male, described as wearing a fluorescent yellow jacket and dark gloves opened the van, took a 'substantial' amount of money and fled on foot towards Market Square.

Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident and are looking for information from anyone who might have been in the area between 8.45am to 9.15am.
