Death of 1972 hogan cup star hugh reynolds
The death has occurred suddenly of former Cavan footballer Mr Hugh Reynolds from Ballyjamesduff.
Hugh, a retired Garda, was in his early 60s. He played at full-forward on the St Patrick’s College team which won the MacRory and Hogan Cups in 1972 and famously scored two goals in the All-Ireland semi-final against St Jarlath’s of Tuam.
A native of Killeshandra, he represented Cavan at all levels in football. He was interviewed by The Anglo-Celt last Friday for a special feature on that 1972 success and expressed his hope that St Pat's would win next Tuesday's MacRory Cup final, a match, poignantly, he had planned to attend.
The management and staff of the newspaper wish to express their sincere condolences to Hugh’s family and many friends. Funeral arrangements to follow.
