Taxi drivers alleged assault by passenger

Gardai in Cavan have questioned and released a man in his 20s in relation to an alleged assault on a Cavan Town taxi driver on Monday morning.

It is understood that at around 4am on Monday morning gardai were called to the scene near Cullies when a driver reported an assault in relation to a four-man fare to Clones.

Two men were arrested and another two fled the scene. The two arrested men were taken to Cavan Garda Station and later released.

Gardai are describing the matter as 'serious' and a file has been sent to the DPP for further instruction.
