Cannabis plants worth an estimated €11,500 have been seized, and a man arrested following the discovery at a house in Belturbet earlier today, December 24.

Gardai from Belturbet, assisted members from Ballyconnell and the regional Drug Unit carried out the search at the residential property on the Sli Na Coille Estate in the town at around around 12.50pm this afternoon.

It is understood that gardaí found around 14 cannabis plants growing.

Gardaí say this latest find is part of on-going intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Cavan area.

The man arrested has been charged and since released to appear before Cavan District Court on January 15 next year.
