Cavan team rocked by players opting out of panel

Cavan’s chances of senior success on the football field next year have been dealt a double blow with the news that panellists David Givney and Kevin Tierney have opted out of the squad.
Givney, from Mountnugent, is a former Sigerson Cup and Railway Cup medallist, while Tierney has two Ulster U21 medals to his name. The news may get worse, too, as team captain Alan Clarke has yet to commit for next season, with sources indicating he may well opt out entirely for 2015.
Cavan, who have been drawn against neighbours Monaghan in the Ulster SFC quarter-final, begin their National League campaign in Division 2 for the first time in eight years next February.
