Whistleblower wilson receives exemplary reference
Garda whistleblower John Wilson who was left waiting for a certificate of service from An Garda Siochána since his resignation has finally received it, over 16 months later.
The Cavanman, who, along with Mountnugent Sergeant Maurice McCabe, revealed the penalty points scandal, had been waiting on the cert as it is the equivalent of a professional reference. He has been looking for a job ever since he left the force, when his position “became untenable”.
The cert was signed by the acting Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan and said Mr Wilson, 51, had given 'exemplary’ service.
The father-of-three, who is recovering from bowel cancer, said: “I am very keen now to find a new job but will continue my voluntary work assisting the many victims of alleged Garda corruption who have come to me.”
