Bawn school scoops prestigious digital media award
St Mogue's College in Bawnboy has been named Digital School of the Year at the prestigious Samsung Digital Media Awards finals which took place at the weekend.
The cream of the Irish Digital Media world, from S.M.E’s to Multinational Corporations gathered for the Gala Event, attended by over 1000 people and presented by Today F.M broadcaster and media personality, Anton Savage at the Double Tree Hilton, Burlington Road last Friday evening, February
Minister for Communication, Pat Rabbitte, addressed the gathering and spoke of “the need to foster an enhanced understanding of the digital world as it is the current driving force behind the Irish economy – growing at a rate of 16.5% - ten times faster than the rest of the economy”.
The West Cavan school caught the attention of the 24 strong member judging panel, who were greatly impressed by “the manner in which St Mogue’s College gave the students ownership of their own education, making learning relevant and attractive to them”.
The sponsor of the award was the Education Company of Ireland (E.D.C.O), and Sales Director, Alan Wright added that he knew of “no other school where digital media has been so successfully embraced and used to bring education to life than in St Mogue’s College.”
