Fresh from their Arctic Monkeys support gig in Dusseldorf, Germany The Strypes have spoken exclusively to The Anglo-Celt to announce two Christmas gigs in Cavan’s Town Hall.
The Strypes have had a whirlwind year, countless high profile gigs, numerous televison appearances, making music videos, supporting the Arctic Monkeys on their UK and European tour, their own Japanese tour and of course the release of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Snapshot’- but there’s more to come.
The Strypes exlusively reveal to the Celt that they will be performing two gigs in the Town Hall, Cavan on Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29, presented by Blue Valentines.
Josh McClorey tells the Celt that the idea for a gig in Cavan came about after their stunning secret gig at Blessfest earlier this year.
“It went down so well and was one of our favourite gigs ever, we thought it would be great if we could do it again. The Town Hall is a perfect intimate venue,” said the guitarist.
Hometown gigs
Quickly chattering over one another the band tell the Celt of their excitement surrounding the impending shows:
“Hopefully it will go well for us, hometown gigs are always the best,” Ross Farrelly says.
Evan Walsh adds, “It’ll be brilliant to get home and play in Cavan again. The gig we played in August in Blessings was one of our favourite gigs this year.” Pete O’Hanlon chimes in: “Blessings was amazing, one of the best band nights ever, it was crazy. It’ll be great to get home and play another gig”.
Evan concludes, “We’ve been away for a while on tour with the Arctics so it’ll be a great ending to the year.
Excited
Manager Niall Walsh tells the Celt: “It’s so important to us that we have a gig in Cavan, in an intimate venue like the Town Hall. We’re lucky to have ‘Blue Valentines’ on board as we know Joe Keenan will do an amazing job. We’re excited and nervous, we’re not taking anything for granted.”
The Strypes take over the Town Hall on Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29, with a capacity of 500 people, the Town Hall gigs will be a sure fire sell out. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 15 at 9am.
Tickets are €15 and are available from Ticketmaster. Multisound will have exclusive access to half of the tickets for each night ensuring that Cavan fans get to see their boys in action.
