Invitation to opportunist criminals, warn gardaí
Cavan Gardaí are seeking assistance from the public help in the investigation of a number of incidents that occurred around the town. A commercial van was broken into in the rear car park of the Hotel Kilmore. The incident happened between 2.30-3pm on Sunday afternoon. A number of tools were taken from the rear of the vehicle.
On the previous night, a car parked on Farnham Road was also broken into. The thief stole a wallet from the vehicle. Sergeant Damien Galligan said that Gardaí were seeking the assistance from the pubic in relation to the incidents.
He said: “We would urge people to take care with regard to leaving things in their cars. It is an invitation to opportunist criminals.”
The sergeant said that Gardaí were also investigating another incident where a student had a wallet stolen in a mugging on Monday night.
Four youths approached a student who was in the Drumlin area and demanded that he hand over his wallet. Gardaí are asking anyone in the area who saw the four individuals to contact them in confidence.
