Gardaí investigate handbag snatch

Gardaí in Cavan are investigating an incident of theft which occurred last Friday evening, where two women were accosted in the Barrack Hill area of Cavan Town by an unidentified male, who stole one of their handbags.

Occurring at 9.20pm, when festivities as part of The Life of Reilly festival were in full swing in some sections of the town, The Anglo-Celt understands that the male, dressed in a red hooded top approached the two women before pushing one of them and making off with their handbag.
The stolen handbag contained a mobile phone and a small quantity of cash and no one was injured. Gardaí say the two women were “badly shaken” by the incident.
The authorities are continuing their investigations into the crime. As part of that they have obtained CCTV footage which may be of relevance in catching the thief, and are appealing to members of the public, anyone who may have been in the vicinity in or around the time the incident happened, or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously to come forward with such information.
