Pro-Quinn signs go missing from roadsides

The campaign group Concerned Irish Citizens have expressed dismay and anger at news that a number of pro-Quinn family signs erected on roadsides along the border have gone missing in the run-up to the G8 summit being held in neighbouring Fermanagh.

Some CIC say were vandalised or damaged in what the group has indicated may have been a concerted effort to hide their pro-Quinn message ahead of the international meeting of world leaders at the Lough Erne Resort, Enniskillen.

Patricia Gilheany of CIC told The Anglo-Celt: 'a number of signs were erected in the Cavan/ Fermanagh/ Leitrim locality by citizens who are deeply concerned about what is happening to our communities in regard to the Quinn/Anglo saga. Sadly, the signs were either removed or vandalised in the dead of night.

'It is ironic that they were removed just as the G8 summit was about to take place.'

She went on to say that many of the signs were located on private property and that in their actions, the culprits would have to trespassed in a bid to remove the signage.

'It is evident there are people who are afraid of the truth', she added.

Independent Belturbet Town Councillor Seamus Fitzpatrick owns the N3 service station located outside Belturbet on the road to Enniskillen where one such sign, saying ‘The Government are crucifying Quinns and betraying our communities’, was taken down.

He said he gave no permission to anyone to take them down and told The Celt whoever did it used a rope-cutter to do so.
