Charge against Cavan nanny in US upgraded to murder
The Cavan nanny accused of assaulting a one-year-old baby in Boston has had the charge against her upgraded to that of first-degree murder.
Aisling McCarthy Brady (34), originally from Lavey, but living in the US for the past decade has been in custody in the US since her arrest on a charge of causing substantial bodily injury in connection with the death of Rehma Sabir almost three-months-ago.
From the outset of this case being brought to court, the prosecution have intimated once full autopsy results were made available a charge of murder against the accused would be forthcoming.
Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone made that announcement last Friday evening (9pm GMT) where he said that Mrs McCarthy Brady was now being indicted on a charge of first degree murder as well as assault and battery causing bodily injury for allegedly violently injuring baby Rehma.
An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled, though at each and every court hearing the Cavan woman's attorney Melinda Thompson has stated her client's innocence.
