The late Mr Willie McGovern

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday, June 11 of Mr Willie McGovern, Pullamore Near, Cavan, after a bravely borne illness. Aged 67 years, he was the son of the late Michael and Kathleen, and was predeceased by his brother, Andy, in April 2008. He was educated at Killygarry National School and Cavan Technical School. At the age of 16, Willie started work with Jacksons Garage and later worked for Bradys Garage for many years. During his time working in both garages, he developed a fine skill for panel beating and his love for cars also became a hobby for him. He made many friends through his work, some of whom have gone before him, RIP. In August 1969, he married Anita Graham, (St Phelim's Place, Cavan) and together they had six children. Meeting people was one of Willie's great loves and many will remember him from his long daily walks along the bypass and Dublin Road in his much-loved hat, and his leisurely stroll up through Cavan town most Saturdays. His remains were removed to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick and Felim in Cavan town and burial was in Killygarry Cemetery. There was a huge attendance at both the house and the funeral. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, Anita; his sons, Seamus, Drumryan, and Liam; his daughters, Martina Cullen, Crubany, Anna Murphy, Killybegs, County Donegal, Louise, Poles, and Finola, Letterkenny, County Donegal; sons-in-law, Des and Gareth; daughter-in-law, Kathleen; Raymond, Shane and Amanda, his adored grandchildren; brothers, Packie, Galway, Michael, Seamus and Eamon; sisters, Kathleen Farrelly, Vera Malone, Susan Cronin and Bernadette Rooney; his aunt, Mary O'Neill, Maynooth; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
