Sympathy Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Dympna Quinn, who died peacefully at Monaghan general hospital on July 12. Dympna was a much loved and respected member of our community and her passing is a sad loss for her family and the many friends she made during her lifetime. Hospice fund-raiser A fund-raising pyjama party in aid of Ballybay hospice homecare will be held in the Ballybay Inn on Sunday August 3. Jimmy Cassidy and friends are organising this event and your support would be greatly appreciated. Golf outing Dennis Parker was the overall winner of the society"s outing to the Nuremore golf club on Saturday July 12. Other results were: Category one, first, Tommy Duffy, second, Gerry Traynor. The society would like to sincerely thank Liam and Anna Smyth for sponsoring this outing and their hospitality later that night at the presentation of prizes in Liam"s. Thank also to Bobby and Maurice at the Nuremore golf club for the use of their facilities. The draw for the quarter finals of the matchplay is: Paul Flynn v Sean Farmer, Kenny Farrelly v Seamus McElroy, Gerry Traynor v Barry Duffy and Mac Sammon v David Lennon. Blessing of graves The blessing of the graves will take place throughout the parish this Sunday July 27. The times are as follows, Tulllycorbet after 9.30am Mass, Ballintra after 11am Mass and St Patrick"s Ballybay at 3pm. All parishioners are asked to make a special effort to tidy the graves of their loved ones. Thank you Pat O"Grady would like to thank everyone who supported her sponsored run in aid of the Leukaemia unit at St James"s Hospital, Dublin. The amount raised was €3,820. Town park toilets The new public toilets at the town park are now open daily from 9am until 9pm. These arrangements will remain in place until October 1. Streetscape Ballybay Town Council has set up a sub-committee to examine the possibility of securing funding for phase three of the streetscape plan. The members of the sub, committee are Mary McGinnity Noel Duffy Gerry Traynor and Gene Duffy. Stookie"s draw There has been no winner of Stookie"s draw for the last few weeks and the jackpot now stands at €1,000. To be in with a chance of winning you have to be there on the night. Tourism projects Two tourism projects in the Ballybay area are to receive funding under the Failte Ireland infrastructure fund. The Ballybay wetlands project will receive funding of 75% of eligible expenditure up to a maximum of €105,773. Lough Major Ballybay will receive funding of 75% of eligible expenditure up to a maximum of €115,875. Bingo winner Betty Keenan from Lough Egish was the luck winner of €400 at the weekly bingo session held in the clubrooms at Pearse park. The hamper was won by Ciam McAdam from Carrickatee. Bingo continues in the clubrooms on Tuesday nights at 9pm with free transport provided from the town. Breastcheck The breast check mobile service will be based at St Davents hospital Monaghan until September. Ladies aged between fifty and sixty four can avail of this free service which takes about 30 minutes. To make an appointment phone 1800454555. Equipment for town park Monaghan county council are currently installing new play equipment in the town park. The work will take about three weeks and the council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period.
